1st February 2026 - Beech Party

Meeting on Eaves playground at 10am, we continued the beech removal from penny fields that was started last year. We felled three of the larger trees, using a rope to guide them down safely.

Meeting in Eaves Playground at 10am, a team of eight cut down some large and small rhododendron from the Clough, near to Hell Hole rocks. This was so much fun in October, November and December that we decided to do it again!

Meeting in Eaves Playground at 10am, a team of seven cut down some large and small rhododendron from the Clough, near to Hell Hole rocks. This was so much fun in October and November that we decided to do it again!

Meeting in Eaves Playground at 10am, a team of eight cut down at least four large rhododendron from the Clough, near to the strip of land cleared for the power cables from Heptonstall. This was so much fun in October that we decided to do it again!

Our last two events on July 6th and June 1st were also Balsam bashes - there is a large amount of Himalayan Balsam in Colden Clough, and despite repeated attempts to stem its spread throughout the valley it continues to thrive.

A team of seven did some Himalayan Balsam clearance by the milking bridge on Sunday 6th July. As for previous events, we met on the playground at 10.00am and finished at 12.00 noon. It was a bit rainy and wet, but the results were spectacular!

Our June event was a balsam bash. Around 15 of us cleared invasive Himalayan balsam from the area around the Milking Bridge to make space for native species and prevent flooding.

4th May 2025 - Woodland Management

Our first woodland management event took place on the 4th May 2025. A group of 10 volunteers cleared beech saplings from a field just beyond the end of Eaves Avenue.
